David Palmer

David Palmer is a Canadian medalist cross country ski athlete on the Black Jack Ski Team in Rossland British Columbia. His pursuit of excellent includes national championship wins and high level international results.

Palmer began competitive cross country ski racing at age of 13 in 2006. Competitive sport has been a part of his life since early childhood. In 2011, after graduation from high school, he joined the Black Jack Ski Team. This was enthusiastically supported by his family and all previous coaches.

Palmer currently trains at Black Jack Ski Club, along with a tight knit group of four high level Senior athletes. The Black Jack group pushes each other in all aspects of sport. Collectively, at the National Level, they are each other’s greatest competitors yet committed in pushing each other to performance excellence. They are committed to being the best club team in Canada. The Black Jack senior team already has higher success than any other senior club team in Canada. They continue to work our way up the ranks, often outperforming the best on the Canadian National Team.

Palmer’s results have continued to show progressive improvement each year. Last year, at the Canadian Winter Games, he was a two time bronze medalist, despite breaking poles in both events!
David Palmer says, “Coaches, family and community are the foundation to the results that I achieve in skiing. Without the support of our sponsors I would not succeed as a high performance athlete. My highest achievements in skiing are certainly a direct result of this generous support.”

Palmer strongly believe in being a well-rounded athlete. He has several other passions, including aviation and wildfire fighting which have complemented his athletic goals. Palmer is active another areas, including studying business administration and commercial aviation. Over his five years on Black Jack, David has completed a commercial pilot license with advanced training on multi engine and instrument flight.

During the off season Palmer is a Smokejumper, parachuting into wildfires with his fire crew with BC Wildfire Service. He has the same drive for excellence on the fire crew as he does in sport.
Palmer’s pursuit of business and aviation has taught him the value and complexity of what it takes and what it means to perform.
