Born in Calgary at a very young age, Colin soon moved to Kimberley and began skiing at age three. Fueled by hot chocolate and cookies at snack time, he progressed onto the junior race team at age ten, racing provincially, and the senior race team at fourteen making his Nationals debut in 2008. Having a breakthrough year in 2011, capped by earning a 2nd aggregate at the National Championships, he pursued skiing and eventually joined Black jack in 2014 for the coveted coaching of Dave Wood.
