Here in Rossland with winter taking its precious time, the Blackjack Ski Team was in search of some snow and what better place to go to than beautiful Canmore, Alberta. A week after the famous Frozen Thunder camp, we headed back to Canmore for some more time on the snow. A couple of new trails had been added to the Frozen thunder loop making the loop a bit longer and most importantly, more hills to climb. This weekend we were mostly working on technique as the race season is fast approaching and technique needs to be polished. We had some easier skiing and a hard interval workout. With less people on the tracks it was much easier to work on technique as there was more room on the trails and not as many skiers to navigate around.
It was good to get on the snow and the Blackjack skiers all had a great weekend. The summer has been filled with many great dry-land opportunities and for some, time up on the Haig Glacier for some mid-summer altitude training and skiing. All of the athletes have been working hard at keeping up with their fitness and training schedules. I think I can speak for all of the team when I hope that all of this hard work translates into some great results in the upcoming race season.
