Once again, Black Jack is on fire with several top results at the Eastern Canadian Championships NorAm this weekend. Julien Lock is beginning to make a habit of winning the NorAm sprints with two back to back skate sprint GOLD medals! Locke has shown the strongest level of racing out of all the Canadians on the World U23 team. These results are very promising for Canada leading into the upcoming championship in Romania. In the heats also, Colin finished 18th, Scotty 25th.
Day two of the race weekend presented the team with consistent results in the 15km Skate interval start.
The highlight for myself this weekend was the 20km mass start classic. The field was strong, with 123 athletes in the Open Men category. The lead pack was tight through the entire race, with a good fight to the end I finished 7th, with Ferrie close behind in 12th, Scotty 30th and Daniel Merlo 27th Junior.
The Black Jack staff teamed up with Canmore Nordic for the week and, as always, Dave nailed the wax on the abrasive klister wax mornings. Our team would like to extend a warm thank you to all of our sponsors, coaches and community for your support and enthusiasm!
Collectively as a team, our performance and racing shape continues to build through this season. We look forward to keeping you posted on our next race series in Prince George at the Western Canadian Championships NorAm a couple weeks away, February 19th to 21st!
